Here is what we shipped in the first half of October.
Real Servers for Multiplayer Games
Games made in Remix Desktop can now run their own server. Remix hosts one server for each room, so the game, not a player's device, decides who scored and what happens next. A room can hold up to 256 players.
To add one, pick Dedicated Servers from the plus menu in the Desktop composer. The agent sets it up, works out how many players your game needs, and you can play the server version in the preview before you publish.
Games can also open public rooms. They show up under Live Games in Social, on remix.gg and in Remix Desktop, with the player count and your ping to each room. Pick one and jump into a game already in progress.
Play Together in Portal Worlds
Portal worlds now fill with other players. When you enter a world, Remix puts you in a room with your friends first, then with other people exploring at the same time.
- Join on a friend takes you to their world, right beside them. Parties are now invite only.
- Party Only in the Play Together panel hides everyone but your party, and hides you from everyone else.
- Craig double jumps in every world.
- On phones, worlds load faster, play upright in the app, and Back asks before you leave so a stray tap never drops you out.
Smarter Search
Search now understands what a game is about, not only its name. Try a genre, a mood or an idea, and Remix picks come first among close matches.
On remix.gg and in Remix Desktop, a Users row sits above the games so you can find people too, and Desktop and Mobile games rank together in one list.
Play Remix Games on X
Share a Remix game link on X and it plays right in the timeline. Portal worlds work too, with touch controls on phones.
Home, Streaks and Notifications
- One minute of play keeps your daily streak. Clickers, sandboxes and portal worlds count now, not just games with a game over screen.
- Home mixes friend activity with your recent games in the app, and mobile remix.gg shows your recent games and portal worlds too.
- Sideways games get a wide Home card, so the trailer fills the card instead of floating in the middle.
- Choose which notifications you get. Turn messages, friends and follows, new game releases, game activity, challenges and scores, and events on or off one at a time, in the app, on remix.gg and in Remix Desktop.
- Landscape games on phones open a sideways stage on remix.gg.
Remix Desktop
- Queue follow-ups while the agent works. Type your next idea, then reorder, take back or remove queued messages before they send.
- Leaderboards in Studio. See every board your game keeps, with current standings and past results, and reset one when you need a fresh start. Old standings stay readable.
- Achievement icons come with the build. New achievements get their icons while the agent builds, with no extra step.
- Disconnect an AI provider from Settings.
- Discover and Social share one Social column, and Desktop reaches Discover faster at launch.
For Game Developers
Games can give each player their own secret code and check guesses on the server, so a code shared online opens nothing for anyone else. Achievement answers are checked on the server too.
Faster Everywhere
Home, game pages and the landing page load faster, and portal worlds settle in seconds on phones.
